History Plans for the Week of September 24-29, 2007

Monday: The students will read and discuss Ch. 1 Lesson 2.  HW: Study for vocabulary test.

Tuesday: The students will take a vocabulary test over Chapter 1 vocabulary. Watch a video on the Stone Age.  NO HW

Wednesday:  Introduce Chapter 2.  Read and discuss civilizations in Mesopotamia p 73-78.  Students will complete an outline on the section.  NO HW

Thursday:   The students will read and discuss Ch. 2 Lesson 2  p 78-83  (6.4spi3)   HW:  Journal #5 due tomorrow

Friday: The students will complete an activity on the Code of Hammurabi  (6.4spi3)  NO HW

History Plans for the Week of September 17-21, 2007

Monday: Students will begin working on Journal #4. Review for test tomorrow. HW: Study

Tuesday: Students will take a test over key social studies terms. Finish atlas activity. NO HW
Wednesday: Classroom Guidance NO HW
Thursday: Introduce Chapter 2. Read and discuss civilizations in Mesopotamia p. 73-78. Students will complete an outline of the section. HW: Journal #3 due tomorrow.

Friday: 1st and 2nd periods will retake the test from Tuesday a second time.  3rd and 4th periods-  review game and classroom guidance NO HW

History Plans for the Week of September 10-14, 2007

Monday: Students will presentg their cultural artifact to the class.  (6.1.1)  HW: Study for test

Tuesday: Students will take a test over the 5 themes of geography and map skills. (6.3.1)  NO HW
Wednesday: Students will compare types of governments and economic systems.  Identify the roles of an archaeologist, geologist, historian, and anthropologist. (6.4.1 and 6.1.2)  Create  a vocabulary flip book.   NO HW
Thursday: Students will use a variety of maps to understand geographic and historical information.  Atlas activity in class. (6.3.5) HW: Journal due tomorrow
Friday: Students recognize the the designations for time dating.  Discuss guidelines for the parallel timeline the students are going to create next week.  (6.5.6)  HW: Test Monday

Journal #3

Monday: Holiday

Tuesday: Students will identify the 5 themes of geography and describe Memphis/Germantown in terms of those themes.  Finish Project.  HW:  Project due tomorrow.

Wednesday:  Guidance for 1st and 2nd periods.  Assign current event dates.  Discussion of culture and cutural artifact assignment. (6.1.1)  NO HW

Thursday:  Students will determine time across the world using a time zone chart. In-class activity. HW:  Warm up questions due tomorrow.

Friday:  Guidance for 3rd and 4th periods.  Assign current event dates.  Discussion of culture and cutural artifact assignment. (6.1.1)   HW:  Bring cultural artifact on Monday.  Test over map skills and the 5 themes of georgraphy will be on Tuesday.
