History Plans for the Week of August 27-31, 2007

Monday: Students will review map skills. Use scale to determine distance. In-class assignment. (6.3.11) HW: Need 30 3×5 index cards by Wednesday.
Tuesday:Students will determine location using latitude and longitude. Define major lines of latitude and longitude. In-class activity. NO HW (6.3.1)
Wednesday: Students will complete an activity in which they determine location using latitude and longitude. (6.3.1) HW: Bring index cards tomorrow
Thursday: Students will begin work on their geographical dictionary project. Students will have 2 days in class to work on it. The final project will be due on Wednesday, September 5th. It will be graded according to a rubric that will be handed out in class today. (6.3.2) HW: Journal #2 due tomorrow
Friday: Students will work on their geographical dictionary.

Journal #2

History Plans for the Week of August 20-24, 2007

Monday: I will go over the expectations for the journal and the journal topic. Students will complete a globe project in class. (6.3.1) Graded papers will be handed back today. NO HW

Tuesday:  Students will identify the the basic components on a world map (6.3.1) using the classroom set of globes.  NO HW

Wednesday: 1st and 2nd periods will have a 30 minute guidance class.  Review for test.  Introduction to classroom atlases.   HW: Study for test

Thursday: Students will take a test over the continents and oceans.  Students will complete introductory atlas activity.   HW: Journal #1 due tomorrow.

Friday:  Students will compare information using different types of maps.  HW:  You will need a set (30) of 3×5 index cards for a project that we will begin next week.
